LWL Museums of Industrial Heritage
Eight former places of work are united under the roof of the Westphalian State Museum of Industrial Heritage. The architectural features in the industrial monuments are not only fascinating but unique. Events and exhibitions link topics from the past with current issues, thereby filling the buildings with life. Thus the disused factories now provide a lively and diverse forum for industrial heritage.
Collecting, researching, communicating
The Westpahlian State Museum researches and communicates the culture of the industrial era from its beginnings to the present day.
Collecting
The LWL Industrial Museum's collection comprises over 250,000 objects from glass buttons to steam engines, from bronze sculptures to evening dresses, from preserving jars to weaving looms. We do not simply collect objects, but also memories and sounds.

Researching
Research into industrial heritage objects and themes is part of our core activities. The results of this work flow into exhibitions and publications. We collaborate on projects with partners from Germany and abroad.

Communicating
Communication is a central pillar of our museum work. We offer tailor-made services for many target groups. We work closely with our educational partners and offer further training for teachers.
