The institution, which is financed by the federal government and supported by the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe, researches and documents the traces and influences of Polish life in Germany and makes them visible on the ‘Porta Polonica’ internet portal.

At the same time, the documentation centre, which is based at the LWL Museums of Industrial Culture, sees itself as a forum for Poles living in Germany. It forms a digital platform for networking and exchange, thereby contributing to the active shaping of the culture of remembrance.
